Air China, the flag carrier of the People’s Republic of China, is introducing direct flights connecting Chongqing and Manila.
The route is designed to offer new destinations and traveler access for Filipino and Chinese tourists. Chongqing is world-renowned as the “8D Magic City” or “Cyberpunk City” for its vibrant landscape, with its mountainous features, gastronomic experiences, and urban development as its strong points.
The city is located at the junction of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers, complementing the scenic nighttime views the city has to offer with its contrasting waters. Chonqing was known as a wartime capital during World War II, with popular tourist sites nowadays including the Dazu Rock Carvings (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Ciqikou Old Town, and the Three Gorges Museum.
The new service also highlights Philippine culture and products to flyers, emphasizing agricultural goods, tropical destinations, and historical sites that tourists can visit in the country.
“The new service provides passengers from Southwest China with convenient one-stop access to Manila, as well as easy connections to popular Philippine destinations such as Boracay and Cebu,” shared the Chinese Embassy in Manila.
Along with its tourism benefits, the route also aims to increase economic opportunities and cultural exchange between Western China and the rest of the country.
Air China’s direct Chonqing-Manila flights will operate four times a week starting May. Visit the Air China website for more details.
