Pit Senyor! The province of Cebu is getting ready for its grandest Sinulog Festival, carrying the theme, “United in Faith and Love,” and its traditional battlecry, “One Beat, One Dance, One Vision.”
Known for its colorful celebrations, the Sinulog Festival is an annual Filipino cultural and religious festival held on the third Sunday of January in Cebu. The festival first began in 1980 as a way to honor the Santo Niño or the Child Jesus and to celebrate the country’s Christianization. The festival has since grown from its religious roots, and now encompasses all manner of activities and celebrations including colorful street parades, grand pageants, and fiestas.
As early as the start of January, cultural shows are being held in different schools and universities, with frequent masses and religious services. The event will culminate with the Fiesta Señor 2026, which will feature an extended Traslacion to give devotees in neighboring cities more time to venerate the Santo Niño image.
Other activities include the most-awaited Sinulog Festival Queen 2026 Coronation Night and Grand Showdown on January 16, and The Sinulog 2026 Grand Parade and Finale on January 18 at the Cebu City Sports Center, which will feature dance, music, and devotion performances.
“Sinulog is more than a festival. This is our gratitude to Sto. Niño and symbol of our faith, culture, and unity. Its success depends on discipline, coordination, and genuine public service,” shares Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival in a social media post.
Sinulog 2026 will be held until January 25 across multiple locations in the province. For more information, visit Sinulog 2026’s official Facebook page.
