Philippine Airlines (PAL) released a new way to share aircraft safety guidelines with a unique twist on the “telenovela.”
Telenovelas have always been popular in the Philippines, with their melodramatic, maximalist, and romantic aesthetics being highly compatible with Filipino sensibilities. Taking a cue from the telenovelas that have shaped our viewing habits, PAL released the Safetynovela—merging safety information with telenovela tropes that result in an entertaining in-flight safety video for passengers.

The video follows the story of a woman set for an arranged marriage, a decision that the lady strongly rejects, as her love is only for someone else. With its comical use of telenovela beats and unique framing device of informational tidbits, the video manages to tell a full story with an educational purpose.

Aside from its informational and educational nature, the safety video also promotes different tourist spots in the Philippines that can attract people to check out these places in their next visit.
You can watch the entire video below.
The new in-flight safety video will be shown on board on the first A350-1000 aircraft of PAL and will be playing soon across all aircraft starting January 2026.
