Atasha Muhlach is taking the role of Annie Batungbakal in Bongga Ka, ‘Day!: The Annie Batungbakal Musical.
It’s a nostalgic comeback — not only for Atasha returning to the big stage, but also for fans of the beloved Annie Batungbakal film, first released in 1979. The original story follows Annie—a creative and spirited young woman in her early 20s, working as a dispatsadora or a sales clerk at House of Pasion. Annie dreams of becoming a fashion designer, driving her to seek acceptance within the Coco Banana—a legendary disco in Malate.
Atasha brings the classic story back to life on stage at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, joining a star-powered cast with Sam Concepcion, KD Estrada, Jeff Moses, and Anthony Rosaldo, who were previously announced as the musical’s leading men. The casting marks a significant milestone in Muhlach’s career, as fifteen years ago, she made her theater debut on the very same stage at just nine years old, portraying Brigitta von Trapp in The Sound of Music. That performance marked her introduction to live theater and offered an early glimpse of the talent that would later flourish across television, streaming, and live entertainment.
Since then, Muhlach has established herself as one of the country’s most promising young performers, appearing in projects such as Da Pers Family and Bad Genius: The Series, as well as making her mark as a television host and model.
