The international sportswear brand is making waves by supporting local weavers with its new line of limited-edition handwoven bayongs. Spotted in different malls, the bayongs flaunt the iconic three stripes that are incorporated into the woven pattern of the bags.
Available in bubblegum pink, deep taupe, classic black, white, blue, and purple, the bayongs include an acrylic Adidas logo keychain in a matching shade, wrapped around its two straps.
These bayongs were created by Bayongciaga—a group of local artisans which aim to promote handweaving techniques and knowledge across generations. By honoring the familiarity of what used to be an everyday woven bag, the group was able to adapt it to modern sensibilities whilst also preserving the stories behind these artifacts of Filipino culture.
The bags are available from March 8 to 22 at participating stores nationwide. Interested customers can claim their limited-edition bayong after spending PHP 6,000 with a single purchase of Adidas products. For more information, visit the Adidas website.
