Museo Pambata opens “Dwellings,” a large-scale participatory installation by Filipino contemporary artists and partners Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan.

As part of the VIP Program of Art Fair Philippines 2026, the cardboard project is a collection of miniature shelters, establishments, and models that, when put together, can be seen as a big city of art. Housed at the Museo Pambata, the exhibition aims to create conversations about home, community, and the city through art.

“If you create a house of used cardboard, it is already history, story, and journey that comes with it”, shares Alfredo. “We are so excited that finally, everyone who would like to participate in this project, it’s gonna be on for two years,” added Isabel.

The work pushes collaborative artistry to its core as the artists invite visitors to create their own cardboard items, which will also be placed together with the collection, creating an ever-expanding city as time goes by.

Part of the artists’ international project called “In-Habit: Project Another Country,” the installations have traveled throughout museums worldwide, such as in Sydney, China, the Netherlands, Singapore, and South Korea.

The Dwellings installation will be open to the public on a limited schedule this February at the 2F HIraya Room, Museo Pambata in Roxas Boulevard, Manila.
