The Philippines just unveiled a Portal in Taguig—the first of Asia’s Portal sculptures that will connect Manila in real-time with Vilnius, Lublin, Dublin, Philadelphia, and Ipswich, and soon, more cities around the world.

The Portal is a circular sculpture created by Lithuanian artist Benediktas Gylys as a way to connect two or more cities together via video call. The life-sized sculptures are placed in public city spaces, allowing passersby to see people from other cities around the world.

Since its founding in 2016, the Portals organization has grown to a global network, focusing on authentic communication that make people from faraway nations more accessible to locals, partnering with governments, cities, and private organizations alike to make the world smaller.

“The opening of our first Portal in Asia is a powerful and exciting moment for us. Bringing the Portal to BGC in Manila – a city known for genuine warmth and a deep sense of human connection – expands our vision of a world connected not by borders, but by direct human encounter,” shared Benediktas in a statement.

You can find the Portal sculpture on 5th Avenue at Bonifacio High Street in Taguig City.
