Relive the epic adventure to save Middle-earth!
The extended edition of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is coming back to Philippine cinemas for its 25th anniversary. Based on the iconic fantasy fiction novel by JRR Tolkien, the film follows a meek Hobbit named Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) from the Shire, along with his companions who set out on a journey to destroy the powerful One Ring and save Middle-earth from the Dark Lord Sauron.
Its first run in theaters was a box office success that broke records and earned critical praise, spawning a film trilogy, and even a prequel trilogy spin-off, making it one of the most successful film franchises of all-time grossing at a combined total of $2.96 billion worldwide.
Aside from this anniversary screening, plans are also in the works for a new film set in Middle-earth, including Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, directed by Andy Serkis and starring returning cast members Elijah Wood and Ian McKellen, which is set for a 2027 release.
Catch the extended edition of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in SM Cinemas from January 23 to 25 and visit www.smcinema.com for tickets.
