The National Council on Disability (NCDA) shared its utmost support for the upcoming film I’mPerfect, set to screen nationwide during the 51st Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
In a statement, the NCDA shared its gratitude for the film and its filmmakers about how they promoted disability inclusion and positive representation of children with Down Syndrome in Philippine cinema.
Produced by Nathan Studios, Inc., I’mPerfect is a film that follows two leading characters with Down Syndrome—Jiro (Earl Jonathan Amanda) and Jessica (Anne Krystel Daphne Go)—as they journey through life navigating love, acceptance, and freedom. The film highlights that people with Down Syndrome are capable and deserve equal opportunities presented to them, marking a significant step toward inclusive narratives in film.
Directed by Sigrid Andrea P. Bernardo, the film is one of the entries for MMFF 2025. The film quickly generated excitement and positive comments, with its story drawing in a large audience due to its message of inclusivity.
“Thank you, as a special child mom, sobrang nakaka proud itong movie, especially sa mga parents ng mga batang kasama sa movie na ito (I am very proud that there is a movie where parents of children with disabilities are included and seen),” shared a parent in the comment section of this post by Nathan Studios. Many commenters are already congratulating the movie, sharing their excitement about its refreshing take on love experienced by people who are less represented on screen.
“We believe that media plays a crucial role in shaping positive perceptions and fostering a culture that recognizes the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities,” shared the National Council on Disability Affairs in their post.
I’mPerfect is set to premiere along with seven more official entries on December 25 at the MMFF 2025 across cinemas nationwide. Watch the film’s trailer here.
